IGGI – Institute of Geodesy and Geospatial Infrastructure
The mission of the Institute of Geodesy and Geospatial Infrastructure (IGGI), within the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Prishtina, is to develop and advance scientific and professional research in the fields of geodesy, geoinformatics, and geospatial infrastructure, as areas of strategic importance for academic, technological, and societal development.
The Institute aims to contribute to the creation, processing, and management of geospatial data, the advancement of measurement and monitoring technologies, and the addressing of contemporary challenges through interdisciplinary research projects and collaboration with academic institutions, industry, and national and international organizations.
In accordance with applicable regulations, IGIGI utilizes the academic, scientific, and laboratory infrastructure of the Faculty and the University of Prishtina, while also providing professional, consultancy, and research services to the public and private sectors in the fields of geodesy, cartography, and geospatial systems.
The vision of IGGI is to become an advanced research and professional center in the region in the field of geodesy and geospatial technologies, recognized for scientific excellence, technological innovation, and its contribution to the sustainable development of infrastructure and spatial planning.
IGIGI aims to achieve the following objectives:
· Development of scientific research in the fields of geodesy, geoinformatics, and geospatial infrastructure;
· Active participation in national and international projects (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, CEEPUS, etc.);
· Strengthening cooperation with public institutions and the private sector in spatial planning and land management;
· Providing professional services in geodetic surveying, cartography, GIS, and geospatial data management;
· Advancement of laboratory and technological capacities for measurement and analysis;
· Support for academic staff and students in research and professional development;
· Promotion of innovation in geospatial technologies and the digitalization of spatial processes.
IGGI is a research unit of the Faculty of Civil Engineering focused on developing scientific and professional research in the fields of geodesy and geospatial systems, contributing to innovation, digitalization, and the sustainable development of territory and infrastructure.
The main objective of IGGI is to develop scientific and professional research in fields of strategic importance for the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Prishtina and society, as well as to promote interdisciplinary and innovative projects in geodesy and geospatial technologies.
IGGI has the right to utilize the academic, scientific, and laboratory infrastructure of the Faculty and the University of Prishtina, in accordance with applicable regulations, and may provide consultancy and commercial services to the public and private sectors.
